This is a book about seemingly non stop drinking, obsession and mental illness. As a general response we decided that this is not one that any of us would recommend.
It is described as as being darkly comic but we failed to find any comedic ideas! In our opinion this book has not stood the test of time. We suspect that it may have been a better read nearer its time of publication but it certainly did not appeal to our generation.
A struggle to read to the end ! A depressing read.
