Being Mortal - Author: Atul Gawande
Caroline, Sally and Lorraine met at Anne's on 5 April to discuss the above book. Sadly Jane and Chris could not join us.
We had a lively discussion about the book probably because we have all recently lost parents and have been through some of the problems outlined in the book.
We all agreed that the book was certainly thought provoking and made us think in a different way about how the end of life should be tackled. Gawande proposes a significant overhaul of our current approach to ageing, care and dying. What is involved in a "good death". All interesting stuff!
The four of us awarded the book 5 stars, an amazing accolade.
Next bookclub will be at Lorraine's on 2 May - not sure what time, so to be discussed. Book to be read is: The Trouble with Sheep and Goats,
